Matt Connolly, recreation coordinator, shares stories of accomplishments and achievements of present and past Maryland Senior Olympians.
In the early 1980s, the Maryland Senior Olympics was created by Baltimore County and the Maryland State Commissions on Physical Fitness. Their first competition was held on October 4, 1980, at Towson State University with approximately 300 athletes for a one-day event. Today, nearly 1,500 athletes, aged 50 to 80 and beyond, compete in the Maryland Senior Olympics.
