Henry Lien, author of Spring, Summer, Asteroid, Bird, discusses how story structure and value systems develop in Eastern stories, and how they differ from storytelling in the West.

Using examples ranging from Parasite to The Thousand and One Nights to the Super Mario video game franchise, Henry Lien compares two storytelling styles and introduces readers to story structures that they may be unfamiliar with. His presentation allows readers to broaden their understanding and enjoyment when reading more diversely and offers suggestions for places to start.
