Reisterstown Branch
Reisterstown Meeting RoomIn this series of three interactive workshops, learn about disinformation, its impact on your community and our democracy, and how to disrupt its spread.
Freedom of speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution, but what does it mean when the speech is misleading, or an outright lie? In these workshops, learn about disinformation and propaganda, their impact on communities and democracy and how to disrupt their influence. Discover the science of why falsehoods spread and stick, how to check sources, facts and AI-generated content, and how to better practice civil discourse.
Week 2: In this session, learn about the news ecosystem in the area, hear Scott Maucione from WYPR discuss his work and pick up a tip for validating sources.
Presented by Deanna Troust of Truth in Common. A light meal is provided for participants beginning at 5:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register for all three weeks.
